Pilot Machine Designers, Div. Hawthon Smith Mfg. designs and builds high‑speed production equipment for a range of sectors, including food processing, plastic forming, metalworking, pharmaceutical, packaging, and garment manufacturing. Its machines often incorporate auxiliary operations such as automatic assembly, packaging, labeling, sorting, gauging and other production steps required by customers. A core competency lies in wire‑straightening and cut‑off equipment. In addition to new‑machine construction, the division provides ongoing maintenance, repair, modification and complete rebuild services. It also offers precision machining for replacement parts, custom tools, fixtures and work‑holding devices.
