Company record

Optical Mechanics, Inc. designs and manufactures high‑precision optics, optomechanical assemblies, and advanced optical instruments for a broad customer base that includes individuals, government agencies, research institutions, universities, and corporations. The product portfolio encompasses Lidar optical assemblies, research telescopes, telescope mirrors, reflective‑coating services, and large‑aperture optics. For the Dobsonian telescope market, the company supplies high‑precision Newtonian primary mirrors with a wide range of focal ratios, focal lengths and apertures, while its classical Cassegrain optics support telescopes, Lidar systems and other optical‑tube assemblies up to one meter in diameter. Mirror testing and evaluation are offered, measuring RMS and P‑V wave‑front error as well as Strehl ratio, and the capability extends to both coated and uncoated specimens. Additional services include touch‑up, re‑figuring and coating application. Optical Mechanics, Inc. also produces classical Cassegrain and Ritchie‑Chretien robotic telescopes whose apertures span from 12 in. (30.5 cm) to 40 in. (100 cm). These turnkey systems can operate autonomously and may be controlled locally or remotely; each unit is supplied with the necessary electronics and computers for full operation and control. Custom optical tube assemblies—such as Lidar units, collimators and other opto‑mechanical devices—are fabricated to client‑specified optical, mechanical, electronic and software requirements. The company applies reflective coatings for visible, near‑UV and infrared wavelengths, including enhanced aluminum coatings for the visible spectrum, and it provides removal of legacy coatings when required.
