Ferro‑Tic Div. of PSM Industries supplies steel‑bonded carbide (SBC) materials engineered for extreme wear resistance. The product incorporates ultra‑fine, rounded titanium carbide (TiC) grains that register a Vickers hardness of approximately 3,300 and deliver a low coefficient of friction. By tailoring the composition, the material can be optimized for high‑temperature, corrosive or high‑impact conditions. After annealing, the carbide becomes fully machinable, allowing standard metal‑cutting operations such as turning, milling and drilling. Heat‑treated grades reach a Rockwell C hardness of about 71, and the material can undergo additional cycles of annealing, re‑working and re‑hardening without degradation. It is suitable for a broad range of metal‑forming applications and is available as raw blanks—rounds, squares and rectangles—or as fully machined, heat‑treated components delivered to specification. Polished surfaces can achieve finishes as fine as 0.5 µin.
