Metal and plastic recovery

Galloo

Galloo’s public material profile has two distinct commercial lanes. In metals, the company describes collecting factory scrap, discarded consumer goods and demolition material, then depolluting or shredding, separating ferrous metals and recovering non-ferrous fractions. In plastics, Galloo Plastics describes post-consumer thermoplastics sorted into PP, PE, PS and ABS families, with washing, sorting and compounding; the company says each production batch leaves with a certificate of analysis and describes a 10-tonne lot for laboratory validation. That is a useful buyer-qualification signal, but exact current grade recipes, resin properties, test method, location and uncommitted inventory still need confirmation. A separate post-shredder lane handles complex mixed residues and is not equivalent to clean scrap or a specified polymer. Galloo’s Harnes project announcement states construction began in 2025 and describes an approximately 200,000-tonne annual processing plan, with recycled steel intended for steelworks and non-ferrous metals and plastics routed to Menen and Halluin for further sorting. Because the source still describes a project under construction, this capacity is not treated as operating throughput or current supply. The sourcing opportunity is to qualify a single metal grade or one polymer formulation and connect input, processing site, certificate, delivered lot and customer acceptance. Do not collapse group collection tonnage, planned Harnes capacity, post-shredder recovery and finished Galloo Plastics granules into a single available-flow number.

Metal recovery and polymer production are different offers

Galloo describes scrap collection, shredding and separation of iron, non-ferrous metals and non-metals. Galloo Plastics separately sorts post-consumer thermoplastics, names PP, PE, PS and ABS, and compounds granules. Each route needs its own site, grade and buyer specification.

A certificate of analysis can anchor a plastic lot

Galloo Plastics says production batches leave with a Certificate of Analysis and describes laboratory validation of 10-tonne lots. Confirm the exact plant, resin/additive recipe, test standard, property limits, lot size and certificate for the material offered; the public statement is not a current inventory listing.

Harnes is capacity in a project announcement, not current output

Galloo’s project article describes construction beginning in May 2025 and planned processing of about 200,000 tonnes per year. It says steel is intended for steelworks, while non-ferrous metals and plastics would go to Menen and Halluin for further sorting. No commissioning or realized throughput is established by that project page.

Material Transition editorial interpretation

Pick one stream: a ferrous/non-ferrous grade from a named yard, a post-shredder fraction with a defined separation stage, or a Galloo Plastics polymer grade. Request current plant/line, input category, lot weight, full grade or resin specification, COA and test methods, contamination limits, yield and residues, customer acceptance, title and open versus contracted volume. Verify Harnes commissioning and actual run-rate before using its announced capacity.
